~ TOILET TRAINING ~
We’ve Done It Here. It Works.
Ragdolls are not only sweet and loving; they are very smart. Training them to use the toilet is not very difficult at all, and think of all the litter you’ll never have to buy, carry, scoop, or dispose of again! It is definitely a tempting idea worth some thought!
We originally taught our ragdolls to use the toilet with “The Cat Seat” system. We chose it because it would hold heavier cats, and had an easy transition from floor to toilet seat without causing a mess.
This is AngelGirls Alexander the Great (above). He is only one in a long line of our toilet trained Ragdolls from AngelGirls.
Training them to us the toilet is not difficult at all. If you are interested in teaching your ragdoll(s) this neat trick as we have, then read this page and check out the links and video’s we have combined here. The more you know, the better prepared you are for success! We have found that almost all (but not every) cat can learn to use the toilet, but you have to not skip any steps. And we have written down what we have found useful to know as well.
First of all, if you only have one kitten, we think you should have 95% success. If you have two cats, then you may have about 80% success. The more cats you have in your home, the more patience you will have to practice if you want success, because they all have to learn at the pace of the S-L-O-W-E-S-T student. Remember the educational no child left behind?
I recommend this seat and system over other’s because it’s sturdy enough to not cave it (remember: ragdolls can be heavier and bigger than other cat breeds) and has an easy to follow video. We also recommend teaching them to use the toilet because it is so much more hygenic than a litter box, and it will save you money in the long run! Whatever you do, don’t teach them to use toilet paper or flush!! We will get to why you shouldn’t later!
We can not use this right now because we have kittens to train, but it is a great idea if you only have a few cats!

This is the system we bought for our younger kittens. Doesn’t hold adult cats weight for training, however.
This funny link is for a kitty that finds flushing fun!:
This is an article about the steps involved in toilet training your angel, without buying an expensive kit:
This video interested me because the guy actually rigged a way for his cat to flush after he finishes!
This is the coolest gadget that flushes the toilet for your cat!
